How's the isolation treating you? It's pretty crap, isn't it?
I'm one of those strange authors who ADORES talking in public, giving workshops and helping writers to be their creative best selves. I never got that whole 'introvert' gene, really.
Working from home is my usual thing, so working from home during the pandemic isn't that much of a change for me. But a LOT of my work was also doing public events, workshops, library talks, festival engagements etc. Which were not only excellent for meeting fans and potential new readers, and helping writers with tricky writing conundrums ... but they paid.
And now they're cancelled, which means I don't get to meet fans and new readers, and I can't publicly share my deep and abiding love for structure, or rant about how 'The Ticking Clock' is the beating heart of your story. And yeah, my earnings are taking a kick in the head.
I can do it here. Bit by bit, I'm going to make a series of work-at-your-own-pace courses that will cover all the things I love and adore about structure, plot, characters, grammar - you name it. I'm going to offer them for free, or very low cost, because everyone's copping it in the neck right now, financially.
There will also be author-business guides as well, because if there's one thing we can do in this 'stay at home' world, it's write our stories and get them out there.
Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I truly hope this is the start of something wonderful.
