If you like reading and writing true stories, come along to an Author Talk to launch the inaugural Margaret Egan Young Writers Award on Friday 14 September at 11am at Broadmeadows Library.
Caroline van de Pol, author of Back to Broady, and Nick Gleeson, author of The Many Ways of Seeing, will be in conversation, sharing memories of growing up in Broadmeadows.
Ms van de Pol is partnering with Council to introduce the inaugural award. Young people aged 15-18 and living or studying in Hume are invited to submit a piece of non-fiction work (such as an essay, feature article or memoir) of up to 2,000 words.
A prize of $1,500 is available and winners will be announced at the Broadmeadows Street Festival on 7 April 2018.
